Services

Fireplace surrounds in natural stone

A fireplace is the one surface in the house everybody looks at while sitting still. Swapping a dated brick or tile surround for stone changes the whole room, and it is a small enough job that it usually happens in days, not weeks.

Questions

Before you start

Which stone handles fireplace heat best?

Natural stone and porcelain both take radiant heat well — porcelain especially, since it is fired at extreme temperatures. We will confirm clearances for your specific firebox.

Can you go over the existing brick?

Frequently, yes, depending on the depth you have to work with and the condition of the substrate. We check it during the consultation.
